Our Leadership Program

Lights On Girls Leadership Co-Hort

  • What is the Lights On Girls Leadership Cohort?

The Lights On Girls Leadership Cohort is designed for middle and early high school girls, focusing on students in grades 6–9 (ages 11–14). Our program helps girls build essential leadership skills, grow in confidence, and develop a passion for making a positive impact in their schools and communities.

High school students in grades 10–12 step into leadership roles as peer mentors and volunteers, guiding younger participants while gaining real-world leadership experience and earning community service hours.

This six-month journey blends in-person and virtual sessions with hands-on activities, mentorship, and community projects. Every girl leaves not just with new skills, but with the courage and vision to lead where she is.

  • How Much Does the Program Cost and How Can You Apply?

Cost: $150 for the full six-month program, covering all expenses, materials, and events.

Application Fee: A $25 non-refundable application fee is required upon applying.

Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships are available to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation.

Final Payment Deadline: Full payment must be completed by February 1, 2026.

By investing in the program, parents and participants are ensuring access to a high-quality leadership development experience that equips girls with lasting skills, confidence, and values.

  • What Will Participants Experience?

Lights On Girls is more than lessons on leadership, it’s an experience. Over six months, participants will:

Learn leadership skills through the iLead curriculum by Dr. John C. Maxwell, focusing on integrity, initiative, and influence.

Engage with inspiring guest speakers who bring real-world perspectives on leadership, service, and success.

Build community through events like Bring Your Friend Day, giving girls a chance to expand their network and share what they’re learning.

Lead service projects that allow them to make a direct impact in their schools and neighborhoods.

Grow through professional development workshops, learning practical skills they can use right away.

Take part in civic and community engagement opportunities to see leadership in action beyond the classroom.

Experience peer mentorship, with high school leaders (grades 10–12) guiding and supporting younger participants while developing their own leadership.

From Cohort 1, we’ve seen girls step into leadership roles, plan community events, and grow in confidence — and in 2026, we’re expanding those opportunities even further.

  • Why Is Leadership Important for Girls?

Leadership doesn’t begin in adulthood — it begins in youth. When girls are given the tools to lead early, they step into their potential with courage and clarity. A girl with dreams can become a woman with vision, capable of shaping her school, her community, and the world around her.

Research shows that confidence in girls often begins to decline as early as middle school, and women remain underrepresented in leadership positions across every sector. By investing in leadership development during these formative years, we help close that gap.

The Lights On Girls Leadership Program provides space for girls to practice leadership in real-time. They don’t just learn about change — they learn how to create it. By developing skills, building confidence, and serving others, participants see firsthand that leadership is not about a title, it’s about making an impact right where they are.

  • What Makes the Lights On Girls Leadership Program Special?

    • Leadership Skills: iLead curriculum builds confidence, communication, and integrity.
    • Mentorship: Guidance from women leaders and high school mentors.
    • Flexible Learning: Mix of in-person and virtual sessions.
    • Community Impact: Hands-on service and civic engagement projects.
    • Professional Growth: Workshops to prepare for school, career, and life.
    • Peer Mentorship: Older students earn service hours while leading younger participants.
    • Celebration: Graduation event recognizing growth and achievements.
    • Girls don’t just learn about leadership they practice it and walk away ready to lead in every area of life.
